Demetri had wanted to go pick up Bailey, but his uncle demanded Demetri come get him, well not him, but his son, and the boat, so Demetri had to ask Bailey to meet him at the lake, he warned her to wear something that could get wet, his Cousin Jake was not good with going slow and staying dry. He was the reason Speed boats made Demetri very wary.
Demetri had gotten all the stuff for dinner, fed Selene, he even had a nice conversation with his old friend Evie. It was a great day so far. He stood out on the dock in a tee shirt and swim trunks, he wasn't sure why he bothered with the trunks, he still had no intention of getting on the boat. He glanced at his watch and looked back over his shoulder, any minute now...

Bailey's heart was beating two times it's normal rate, and butterflies swarmed in her stomach. Demetri had told her to meet him at the lake, and to wear something that could get wet. This was hard, because she also wanted to look good. In the end, she chose a pair of shorts that fit her perfectly after years of being to large for her, and an orange flowy t-shirt with er bathingsuit underneath. You never know.
With her fingers crossed behind her back, Bailey walked to the lake, which wasn't too far from her house, and spotted Demetri imidiatly. She quickened her pace a bit, before finally reaching him.
"Time to be killed," she joked, grinning cheekily.

Demetri smiled at her and shook his head. "Have fun with that." He laughed. He pointed at Jake, who was on the boat. "That's the boat and that's your driver, Jake Pierce, don't let the fact that he's fourteen bother you, he's been doing this for... fourteen years." He half joked.
He looked at her and smiled, hse looked good. He ran a hand through his hair and looked over at the boat, trying to act like he hadn't just been staring. "So, time for fun with Jake." He walked down the dock to the board and climbed on the boat, holding out a hand to help her on. He figured he'd help her on, get off the boat and go get comfortable, watching them as they sped around the lake.

Bailey swore she saw him watching her, but when she looked up at him, he wasn't. She just shook it off and followed him onto the dock, toward the boat.
Demetri got on, holding a hand out to her to help her on. She grabbed it, holding on tight as she got onto the boat. She had to admit, she was kind of scared, but it was a fun, exciting kind of scared. She knew he was going to get off right after she was settled, so she didn't let go of his hand. Looking up at his face, she put on her best pouty face; It was the face that she used on her mom, until her mom got the trick of looking away and plugging her ears.
"Come on. It'll be fun! Please?" she grinned. "Pretty please with a cherry on top?"

Demetri shook his head. "No, no, no, no." He smiled. "Sorry. He turned, intending on getting off the boat, but didn't get the chance as Jake sped off, nearly knocking him back on his butt. "Jake, I'm not supposed to be on here..." He attempted to walk across the boat without falling, all he got in responce was a sharp turn, knocking him over.
"This is why the family doesn't like you." Demetri muttered, getting back up. "Fine, looks like I'm riding." He called to Bailey over the wind zipping by. He gripped a metal bar on the boat and held on, white knuckling it. "What do you think?" He asked her.

Bailey pouted more as Demetri declined, and began to walk off the boat, but suddenly the boat started going and he went flying down. Bailey covered her mouth to smother a gasp and giggles. He got up and made his way to talk to the guy driving the boat, before coming back.
"This is awesome," she looked around as other boats drove around them, then she looked down at the water that sprayed as the boat wizzed through it, fast. It would good she didn't get sick, because that's just unattractive.
She held on, giggling at the death grip Demetri had on the metal bar.

Demetri didn't lessen his grip on the bar, but smiled humorlessly at Bailey. "Would this be a bad time to mention, I can't swim?" He asked. He always meant to learn, but he never actually got around to doing it. He looked nervously over the water.
He didn't make a lot of sense in some ways, like wanting to white water raft, without learning to swim, but he had a right to be strange. He moved his leg out a little, so it was touching Bailey's it actually did comfort him a little. He concentrated on her, her skin, her orange shirt, ad the dinner he was going to make, he had memorized everything about it so he wouldn't have to re-google for the recipe.

Bailey smiled reasuringly when he told her he couldn't swim.
"It takes practice, but it's not really all that hard. It's like learning to ride a bike." she looked down at the water, knowing it was fairly deep. It even scared her a bit.
Looking back up at Demetri, Bailey could see he was worried half to death. He moved his foot so that it was touching hers, and his presence made her feel so much better that, with her free hand, she reached and grabbed his hand, holding it tight. She hopped she could make him feel better. Looking up into his eyes, she tried to decode his feelings. It was trying to see through a brick wall.

[blackquote]Demetri laughed, shaking his head. "Can't do that either. I spent most of my childhood studying and avoiding physical fitness at all costs." He gently squeezed her hand and looked at her. As weird as it sounded, it helped having her there, it would have been better if he were watching from the dock, but he was kind of okay with this.
"I might end up killing Jake though." He said loud enough for the younger boy to hear. Jake just turned, flipping him the bird. "Yeah, he's mature." He rolled his eyes. He was glad he hadn't eaten any lunch, he would have spent a good twenty minutes hanging over the side of the boat. [/blockquote]

Bailey now laughed. But she wasn't really laughing at him, just laughing at how ironic her choice of words were.
She smiled shyly when he squeezed her hand back. It sent an tingly feeling up her arm, and she liked it.
Demetri laughed, saying that he was probably going to kill Jake, and Jake turned and put his middle finger up at him. Bailey laughed, watching them like they were a funny tv show.
She imagined her mother on the boat, but it was nearly impossible. She would've been screaming her head off by now, or throwing up into the water.
"You sure your okay?" she asked, just to be sure. She watched their hands, rubbing the back of his with her thumb. She felt like she was watching someone else do that, because the normal Bailey wouldn't be brave enought to make a move like caressing his hand like that.

Demetri looked down at his hand when he felt Bailey's thumb and smiled. "Yeah I'll be fine." He nodded, looking her in the eyes. "He won't, but I will." Demetri didn't even have to do anything himself, just mention it to his mother and all hell would break loose. Demetri's mother was convinced that his pale, skinny self couldn't do much more than lift his laptop without hurting himsef. He hated to admit it, but she was kind of right, he was notorious for tripping and hurting himself, but Bailey didn't need to know that.
He gripped the bar even tighter as Jake turned sharply, after a moment he coasted to a stop. Asking if they wanted to tube. "No way in hell you're getting me on the giant intertube." Demetri shook his head. "He attaches a pig intertube to the back of the boat with a string and you hold on and hope you don't fly off." He explained to Bailey. Jake insisted it was fun.

Bailey held on tighter to both the bar and Demetri's hand as they turned sharply, coming to a stop. She was breathing deeply, in and out, in and out, her heart beating a million beats per second.
She couldn't help but laugh as Jake asked them if they wanted to get out on the intertube, and Demetri declined as if Jake was asking him to chop his right foot off and feed it to a bunch of hungry sharks.
"I'll have to decline." Bailey didn't want to sound rude or anything, but she didn't think she could handle being pulled by a speeding boat, while on an intertube. "My stomach can only take so much."

Jake shrugged, telling them it was their loss, then went back to the drivers seat. "Just let me know when you want to stop and go to my place, it'll take a bit to make the food so your stomach can settle." He managed to say before Jake sped off again, nearly causing Demetri to fall off the plastic 'seat'
He regained his balence and smiled sheepishly. He looked out as everything sped by and had to admit, it was pretty cool, when Jake wasn't trying to turn on a dime and foce the boat to capsize. Demetri relaxed a little and went back to concentrating on the dinner for the night.

Then they sped off again, almost sending Demetri flying again. This made Bailey laugh so hard her sides hurt.
A moment passed, and suddenly Bailey's stomach growled quietly. "Why don't we head over now? My stomach'll kill me if I don't eat sooner or later. Speaking of which, care to tell me what we're having?" She couldn't take the suspence of waiting until we got to his house. And it still gave her the giggles, knowing she was going to be in Demetri Pierce's own house. The fact that he was a terrific author was only, about, a quarter of the reason.

Demetri nodded and looked over at Jake. It really didn't bother him that Bailey laughed, it was funny, and quite frankly, he liked the sound ofher laughter. Dude... you're getting creepy. Demetri never could figure out why his inner voice was a surfer...
"Jake! Head on Back!" Jake gave him and thumbs up and did the dime turn again. "damn it... Umm... dinner... that's a surprise." He smiled at Bailey, "But It'll be good." He nodded. He'd spent most of the evening before picking up the house, the house hadn't been this clean since the time he had the flu and his mother insisted on taking care of him, yeah he was a mama's boy, he wasn't ashamed of it.
