Riley could only skate because his father put him through years of torturous hockey. He had played from age six to age twelve, before he refused to play. He hated the violence it tended to involve, especially with a pack of roudy boys.
He decided to go skating for a reason to get away from home. Even though his home was huge and entertaining, after sixteen years of it, while often by himself, it began to get slightly boring.
He tighed up the skates and pulled his jacket on before stepping onto the ice. Once both feet were firmly on the ice, a girl sped past him; He could almost feel the wind hit his face, she was going so fast. Riley took this as a competition, that was how bored he was. He decided to see if he could outrun the girl, so he took off after her. For once, he was glad he had played hockey.

He continued to skate up behind her, and she finally noticed him, smiling and going faster. Smirking, he advanced so that he was skating next to her.
"This as fast as you can go? Pfft. I've seen better," he said, panting a bit. He didn't say it in the way that he was insulting her. He said it in the way that ment he wanted to see her speed up more.

Samantha laughed. "Please, my dog could skate this fast!" she returned with a slight smirk, pushing off a little more on the toes of her skates, before falling back onto her heels to make sure that she didn't fall over accidentally - yeah, she was a good skater, but there was no way that she was gonna break her arm because she had to show someone up, even if it was just in play. She made a sharp turn as the sidelines of the rink curved off.[/ul]

"Please, my dog could skate this fast!" Riley laughed as he sped up as well. Then she turned, and he tried to turn as well, but I guess the quitting of hockey was getting it's revenge on him, for something happened, and suddenly they were both on the ice, on their butts, as people sped past them. After a moment of dumbfoundedness, Riley found himself throwing his head back and laughing, hard. "Oh my god, I'm really sorry. I guess I should've practiced a little more before skating like a maniac," he apologised, wobbling as he got to his feet to dust himself off. Holding out a hand to her to grab on to so that he could help her up, he introduced himself. "I'm Riley, the klutz. What's your name?"

She grinned. "Nah, it's fine - trust me, I've had plenty of worse falls." she said, pulling her tobogan off and pulling her braids over her shoulder, pocketing her hat. Her had stood up. "I'm Riley, the klutz. What's your name?" Samantha smiled brightly and accepted his hand, standing up a little shakily on her skates. "Nice to meet you Riley, I'm Samantha. Well, Sam will do just fine." she introduced herself. She didn't much like it when folks used her full name, but of course her father did whenever he bother to speak to her.[/ul]

"Nice to meet you Riley, I'm Samantha. Well, Sam will do just fine." Riley smiled. He had always liked the name Samantha. "Nice to meet you too, Sam," he grinned. He examined her. She was pretty. Wait, scratch that, very pretty. He had never felt this way towards someone before. Shaking the feeling off, he gestured behind him. "I think I'm getting off the ice before I kill someone," he joked. He tried to pucker up the courage to ask her to come up with him, but he was having problems. He didn't want to sound like a dork. Oh, because crashing into her and sending both of you to the ground isn't being a dork?, he thought sadly. But he pushed that to the back of his head. "Uhm... Do you... Want to.... Err..." He swore silently, trying to phrase his question correctly as he rubbed the back of his neck and looked down at his skates.

Samantha smiled - she always did try her best to be polite with people, even if they weren't towards her - there was no reason to go around making unwanted enemies, now, was there? Not ever in her opinion at least. Plus, he was cute. "I think I'm getting off the ice before I kill someone."A grin passed over Sam's face. "Ah, yes. Wouldn't want to be wanted for Ice-Rink Suicide." she agreed with a small smile. "Uhm... Do you... Want to.... Err..." Sam gave a slightly confused smile, her eyebrows moving in slightly. "Go with you?" she prompted gently, leaning against the wall of the rink.[/ul]

Riley gave a sigh of releif. "Yes," he nodded, blushing a bit. This confused him. Was this a 'crush'? Nah, couldn't be. Riley wasn't the kind of person who gets 'crushes' on pretty girls. But this girl was very pretty. Er, snap out of it, Riley! he yelled at himself in his head.

she asked, watching as a rather large group of teenagers skated past, laughing at one of the guys who was stumbling to skate backwards just in front of them. She smiled slightly, turning her gaze from the group to the figure skater in the center, practicing her routine, and looking back to Riley.[/ul]

Riley looked around, thinking of where to go. "Somewhere that doesn't consist of ice..." he grinned cheekily. He looked down and looked at his expensive watch, noting that it was around lunch time. "You wanna grab a bite to eat? Unless your not hungry. Then we could go somewhere else." There he goes again, babbling like an idiot. He decided just to shut his mouth and let Sam do all the talking.

Samantha chuckled slightly and brushed her hair back. "Ya know what, I think that's just about anywhere but here." she teased lightly, a small grin spreading across her face. "You wanna grab a bite to eat? Unless your not hungry. Then we could go somewhere else." Sam thought about it, before realizing that she hadn't eaten yet that day - her nanny, and yes, her parents still made her live with a nanny when they weren't around, hadn't been there that morning with breakfast, and she had already had something to do earlier. "Sure, that'd be great." she agreed.[/ul]

Riley smiled. "Sounds cool. How about the country kitchen? I heard it's good," he suggested. He had seen the resturant on his way to the ice rink, and had heard people talking about it.
He ducked to the side as another teen sped passed, not looking where he was going.

Sam considered this and smiled slightly - her parents hadn't ever really let her dined out unless they were with her. Not even with her nanny. She thought about it for a moment. Well, they were never around anyway. so... screw it to 'em. "Sure. I'ver never actually been." she admitted, smiling slightly, sidestepping the skater that sped past the two of them; if they wanted to go fast, that was fine with her, but the least they could do was watch where they were going.[/ul]
